Moose Mountain Maple is the new name for a very old tradition in the Butler family. While many things have changed, including becoming certified organic in 2009, boiling the syrup over a wood fire remains a tradition to this day. Each year the farm uses about 18 cords of firewood to boil sap from over 10,000 maple trees!
In 2017, with the expansion made possible by Tristan, Ben and Andy, the farm expanded to 18,500 taps.
Moose Mountain Maple is part of a larger family run farm that includes an organic dairy component. With the help of his sons, William’s father John milks 55 organic dairy twice a day. The milk is sent to Organic Valley.
